Adrian Mackwell – behind the smile

Adrian Mackwell gained his professional qualification with the Independent Surveyors and Valuers Association (ISVA) in the 1980’s.

Now, with over 30 years’ experience Adrian Mackwell has a wealth of knowledge in the valuation and sale of antiques, paintings, collectables, silver and jewellery plus general house contents. He occasionally values and sells more unusual items including a 1903 Vintage car, a house crammed with stuffed animals and rare musical instruments.

Previously a Director at two prominent Midlands-based fine art salerooms, he was responsible for valuations, cataloguing, advertising and marketing. In addition, he undertook all valuations for probate/inheritance tax purposes, insurance, divorce proceedings, family division and of course sale by auction.

As an independent auctioneer he is able to supply auctioneering services on a regular or ad-hoc basis. With a wealth of rostrum experience and a high level of skill he has offered for sale a huge and diverse range of antiques, paintings, cars and motorbikes plus arranging the forced sale of plant, machinery and stock.

As BBC WM’s “Voice of Antiques”, Adrian has provided innumerable valuations via a phone-in to listeners in the Midlands. His television appearances include Bargain Hunt, Cash in the Attic, Restoration Man, and he also won an episode of Ready Steady Cook.

He has written many magazine and newspaper articles, including for Aga Magazine and Saga Magazine, Birmingham Post and Worcestershire Living.
